Background and Education Dr. Carlos Chacon is a first-generation Mexican American born in Tuscon, Arizona. His immigrant parents were from small towns in Sonora, Mexico. For almost two decades, Dr. Carlos Chacon has lived in California. While living in Arizona, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Science from the University of Arizona. He then joined the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine three years later and got his Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.). He spent a short time in 2005 studying neurodegenerative diseases at the Università Degli Studi di Firenze in Florence, Italy. Then, he moved on to become a Resident in the Department of General Surgery at the University of California San Francisco in 2005.
